Mandela lookalike claims to be related to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and would like to be reconnected to his Mandela family.

It is believed that every person has his or her doppelganger and this Mandela lookalike has just become the clear evidence of the belief. His name is Themba Michael Qina, he definitely looks exactly like Mandela and claims that he is related to the Mandela family.

Themba Michael Qina is 67 years old from Maboloka in North West province, his father, John Mbhuti Qina was born in 1918 in Transkei and died in 1994 in Welkom. The 67-year-old said his father died before disclosing his roots, he only said he was from Eastern Cape, Transkei.[1]

This Mandela Lookalike enjoys the benefits of the looks

Mr Qina enjoys the benefits of looking like Mandela. Everywhere he goes people offers him lot of attention. Some ask to take picture with him while others ask to feature him on their projects. Little kids sing for Themba while he dances for them.

“Even nurses at the hospital take turns to visit me. They were amazed that I look like someone who was admired by people around the world,” said Themba Qina.

“You know, every time I go into a shop to buy something, when I am supposed to pay for it, the shop keeper refuses, I don’t know why. One day I accompanied another man to court, as we entered we met another man…so he said we are grateful to see Mr Mandela in our midst.” He said being interviewed by another man in a twitter video.

He wants to trace his ancestral roots

The Madiba lookalike’s desire is to be reconnected to his origin, of which he believes that his original family is the Mandela family since his father is from Transkei. He said he is related to Mandela; his father was a brother (from another mother) to Nelson Mandela. So, he meant that his father John Mbhuti Qina and Nelson Mandela had the same father but different mothers.

“Things have been bad for me. I’m confident they’ll get better if I know where my father comes from and reconnect with my ancestors,” said Themba.

“I’ll be happy if it is established (that) I am related to the Mandelas. I won’t ask them for anything. I just want to know where I belong,” he added.

His sister Cicilia Mokwena (58) also backed him saying she wanted closure. She said that what she is cognizant of is that her father had nine children and was from Transkei.
