Someone once said “death is the bride of every home” but the sad part is we all don’t get used to this bride. In recent years, we lost numerous celebrities including musicians, actors and athletes to this unlovable bride. So, we are going to look at 9 Rhythm City actors you didn’t Know Died & Causes of Deaths.
Number 1: Mary Makgatho, Cause of death: Concussion
Veteran actress Mary Makgatho who was known as Connie in the drama of Rhythm City passed away on 7 August 2017. The actress who was health fell and injured her head and lost consciousness. She was rushed to hospital where she was in a coma until her time of her death. She was known for other dramas including Yizo Yizo, Generations and eKazi our Stories. [1]
Number 2: Mahlubi Kraai, Cause of death: unknown
Actor, director, musician and choreographer Mahlubi Kraai is one among celebrities who shocked us when we head of his death. On Rhythm City, Mahlubi played the role of Monareng or Mo. He died on the 2nd of May 2021 but the causes of his death are not known to this day. Perhaps his family knows what happened to him bit they never published the cause of his death.
Number 3: Brian Bruno Majola, Cause of death: Speculations of Suicide
Another Rhythm City star who left us early was Bruno Majola. He died on 12 August 2022 at the age of 36, but causes of his death were never published. Some suspected he died from self termination while others think he was fighting with his girlfriend which possibly led to his death. Bruno appeared on Rhythm City as Bongani, who happened to pursue a career in music as well. In real life Bruno was a kwaito music star and actor.
Number 4: Tamara Jozi, Cause of death: Natural death
Another veteran actress who is no longer with us from Rhythm City cast is Tamara Nokulunga Jozi. She was best known for several commercial TV adverts including “the Wimpy”, where she keeps asking “Thabo, when are you getting married?”. She also appeared on etv soapie drama Rhythm City and she was fan’s favorite. According reports Tamara died of natural death on 6th August 2021.

Number 5: Dumi Masilela, Cause of death: Shot in the stomach
Musician and Rhythm City actor Dumi Masilela died after being shot in the stomach in a hijack attempt. After being shot Dumi drove himself to the hospital where he received treatment but he died the following day due to severe injuries. He died on 03 August 2017 at the age of 29. Dumi was known on Rhythm City as “Sifiso Ngema”. In real life he was married to actress Simphiwe Ngema whom he dated for three years before tying the knot. [2]
Number 6: Noxolo Maqashalala, Cause of death: unknown sickness
Noxee was a South African actress who was known for her role in Tsha Tsha. She appeared on Rhythm City season 1 as Zothile Gumpe. Noxee died in March 2021 from unknown sickness while in her home in Honeydew, Johannesburg.
Number 7: Jamie Bartlett, Cause of death: Cardiac Arrest
Most of you all know about the death of Jamie Bartlett because he was a lead actor in Rhythm City. He portrayed the role of David Genaro, a wicked puppet master who also had constant rivalry with Suffocate Ndlovu. Jamie died from cardiac arrest while at home with his girlfriend. He died on 23 May 2022 at the age of 55.
Number 8: Mncedisi Shabangu, Cause of death: Chest Pains
Best known as Khulekani Ngobese in the former etv drama series Rhythm City, Mncedisi Shabangu died on 24 July 2022. According to Mncedisi’s brother Mthokozisi, Mncedisi died in the early hours of Sunday, the 24 of July after complaining about chest pains. In Rhythm City, Mncedisi Shabangu’s role replaced David Genaro so he was Suffocate Ndlovu’s rivalry as well.
Number 9: Sipho Ngema, Cause of death: Heart attack
The last on our lost is Sipho Ngema, he played the role of Raymond in Rhythm City. His role became very popular where he continued to play the role for many years. He portrayed other roles including playing commissioner in Hope season 1 and Sjekula in The Queen season 4. Sipho Ngema died on 12 April 2020 from a heart attack. He was 47 years old by the time of death. [3]
