Recently we heard of the passing of Mpho Sebeng and the nation was saddened. Mpho who was just 31 years old died in a car accident on the 5th of May and our hearts are still mourning him. Will look at Mpho Sebeng’s legacy and more details about his death.
Birth of place and childhood
Mpho Sebeng was born in Soweto 1992 December the 1st. He is the eldest in the family of two. Mpho matriculated in the year 2011 at West Ridge High School, attaining 2 distinctions. His high school achievements include being the first to get full colours for drama at 17 years old, he was also vice – captain of his high school rugby team, partook in soccer and got full colours for athletics. Career of Mpho Sebeng
While in high school, Mpho joined drama classes and started acting at school. He was so good at acting that when a family friend spotted him acting, he encouraged him to pursue acting as a career. By that time Mpho was just 12 years old and he took the advice to heart. Mpho’s first television debut was on “Justice for all” as well as “Zero Tolerance” which later went to win multiple awards.

From then onward he appeared in several drama serials including etv Scandal, “Bay of plenty” a screenplay as Bongane, Khandakulu a short film and Winnie the story about the life of Winnie Mandela. Ring of lies was Mpho’s first major lead role on prime-time television, his performance was one for the books as it went as far as earning him a nomination for the 2018 South African Film & Television awards for “Best Male Actor” in a telenovela. By the time of death, Mpho had become a household name and was ready to go international specifically Hollywood. [2]
Death of Mpho Sebeng
By just looking at his career and how it unfolded, Mpho had a chance of becoming big in the entertainment industry, but his life ended before he was even 35 years old. Mpho died on 05 May 2024 after he was involved in fatal car accident. There are no details of either he was with someone or not during the accident, but certainly he is the only one who died.
His friend and former colleague Zola Hatshatsi expressed his grief, describing Sebeng as a cherished friend and colleague whose presence filled a significant void. [3]
