Thapelo Archibald Sfufane Mokoena, or simply Thapelo Mokoena, was born into the Mokoena family on October 21, 1982. His birth occurred under a Mkhamba tree in Ladysmith, a small town in Kwa Zulu Natal province. His mother was unable to attend his delivery at the hospital. He hails from Zulu country, while his mother is Sotho. That is why he is an African man who speaks multiple languages. [1]

Thapelo is descended from a big family. His father, Mike Mokoena, owns the Free State Stars, one of South Africa’s top soccer leagues. Brotherhood unites Thapelo and Fana Mokoena.
