Early Life

On June 9th, 1982, Letsholonyane was born in Johannesburg’s Soweto. He spent his childhood in Soweto’s White City, Jabavu, kicking a rugby ball. At Morris Isaacson High School, where he began playing for Jomo Cosmos, his talent really began to shine. Despite knowing that playing soccer would only be a temporary career, his parents did not think he could make a living from it, but they still supported him. It was his parents who got him his first set of soccer boots, Puma SE Rangers. [1]

Personal life

His younger brother, Ruben, is a soccer player. e resides in Johannesburg’s Fourways neighborhood. “Living in a suburban area can sometimes be lonely. Everyone stays in their own world. When Letsholonyane joined Jomo Cosmos in 2006, he primarily participated in lower league sports. He signed with Muhsin Ertugral’s Kaizer Chiefs two years later, and despite suffering from injuries on a regular basis, he has been a crucial member of the starting lineup ever since. On August 30, 2008, Letsholonyane and Gordon Gilbert made their debuts together in a 2-1 loss to Thanda Royal Zulu. He came close to scoring as he took a powerful shot outside the box but crashed onto the crossbar.

Letsholonyane scored the winning penalty in the 2008 MTN 8 final and Chiefs won 4–3 over Mamelodi Sundowns. He got his first call-up after the final. He missed most of the 2011–12 season after picking up a knee injury on international duty, and only got featured in just 13 league matches for Chiefs. In the 2012–13 season during Chiefs’ league and cup double triumph he played 26 league matches and scored three goals. When Letsholonyane’s leg was cut in half during a game against the Lamontville Golden Arrows halfway through the 2013–14 season, he had to come off and be replaced by Josta Dladla. The Chiefs went on to win 1-0. His only injury was to his ligaments, which is why he was unable to play in the final match of the 2013 season against AmaZulu on December 22. He was named Man of the Match after scoring in the second minute of the MTN 8 quarterfinal matchup against Mpumalanga Black Aces, which resulted in a 4-0 victory. [2]

International Career

Letsholonyane began representing South Africa in 2008. He played his first game in September 2008 in Germiston against Malawi. He scored the second goal in a 5–0 win over Guatemala on 31 May 2010. In addition to the 2013 African Cup of Nations, he participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Against Sudan in a 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier, he earned his 50th cap with a 2-1 victory

Marriage and Divorce

Reneilwe was wed to Mpho Maboi, and the two of them have two wonderful children. Reneilwe Letsholonyane, a star player for Kaizer Chiefs, is father to two children: Thato, a boy, and Keneilwe, a girl. Mpho Maboi, the presenter for sport and Thato’s mother, joined them. Mpho disclosed in an interview on 702 that she and Reneilwe divorced in 2021 following several attempts to patch things up. She stated that she had become dissatisfied in their marriage and could not fathom living out the rest of their days in such misery. [3]
