In this video, we will look at 10 Mzansi Celebrities Who Allegedly Destroyed or Killed their Partners.

No1. Zinhle Mabena

Smoke & Mirrors actress Zinhle Mabena is among those Mzansi celebrities who allegedly attempted to destroy their partners. She was married to a politician and entrepreneur Robert Ngwenya for almost five years before they divorced. In February 2021 before divorce, Zinhle Mabena was arrested for attempting to kill her husband Robert Ngwenya.

According to reports she orchestrated a shoot out that targeted her then husband Robert at Centurion petrol station. The shootout happened on 28 January 2021 and police arrested her on 17 February 2021 claiming to be possession of evidence linking her to the failed assassination attempt. The following day she appeared in Pretoria Magistrate court and her case was dropped due to lack of evidence. [1]

No2. DJ Donald Sebolai

In March 2016, Jozi FM DJ Donald Sebolai was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for the murder of his girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala. She was found in a pool of blood in Sebolai’s bed in June 2014. She had suffered a single stab wound to the pelvic area. Throughout his trial, he maintained that he did not kill Tshabalala and that she stabbed herself as the pair of them struggled over a knife she had used to stab him in the fingers.

No3. Emtee

Rapper and musician artist Emtee best known for his single hit song Roll Up showed tendencies of trying to ruin his wife’s life. In recent reports of this year, Emtee was arrested for being abusive to his wife while she was seven months pregnant. Her wife, Nicole Chinsamy, dropped the charges because she didn’t want the father of her children to rot in jail. But in return Emtee attempted to bankrupt their joint estate by transferring over R500 000 from their trust account. In this way Nicole was going to suffer financially because they would have nothing share after divorce since they were married in community of property.

No4. Bundu

Well known Tshivenda film producer, comedian and actor Bundu also attempted to destroy the life of his partner and girlfriend. According to reports, Bundu assaulted his girlfriend with a wooden stick and electric cable back in August 2019. He further dripped burning plastics all over her body and locked her inside his house for two weeks. He also gave her a bucket which she used when she wanted to relieve herself. In 2022, Bundu was arrested and was convicted on a count of attempted murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

No5. Nzuzo Njilo

Another shocking successful celebrity attempt in destroying their partner is that of Nzuzo Njilo who scammed his then wife Faith Nketsi. The two were married in a traditional wedding in 2022 but a year after they called it quits. Their divorce happened after Nzuzo showed his true colors to Faith that he is a scammer. He scammed another lady in vehicle purchasing deal by selling her a car which didn’t exist. After that Nzuzo couldn’t hesitate to defraud his wife of the proceeds of the sale of her vehicle. When Faith said she wanted a divorce, she highlighted that Nzuzo was toxic and if she should have stayed in their marriage, she would suffered from a mental illness. [2]

No6. Kelly Khumalo

Singer and actress Kelly Khumalo was in trouble with the law after the death of his boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa. She was allegedly accused of being involved in the death of her partner Senzo.  The two dated until the death of Senzo in 2014 when he was shot to death. Some believes that Kelly was involved in Senzo’s death because he was talking to one of the suspects before and after Senzo’s death.

No7. Gregg Pettigrew

Veteran actor Gregg Pettigrew with over 30 years of experience in the industry, was arrested in April of 2023 accused of killing his gay boyfriend Dean Jeran. The soapie actor was accused of shooting the 29-year-old Dean Jeran at his Kempton Park cottage. After that he attempted to take his own life by taking overdose of pills. There are no further reports of his sentencing but Gregg killed his partner and there is no clear reason why he did that.

No8. Pitch Black Afro

The rapper Pitch Black Afro whose real name is Thulani Ngcobo was arrested after killing his wife Catherine Modisane. In June 2020, he was sentenced to 10 years and 5 months in prison with half of the sentenced suspended. Thulani’s wife died of blunt trauma, which could have been caused by the accused hitting his wife’s head against the wall. Pitch Black admitted to the crime before being sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released on 18 August 2023 after benefiting from special remission of sentence.

No9. is Oscar Pistorius

In the early morning of Thursday, 14 February 2013, Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria. He was arrested and was charged with murder. In September 2014, Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. His case was brought back to court in 2017 and he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. [3]

No10. Sindisiwe Manqele

Sindisiwe is not a celeb but she is linked to this list for killing her boyfriend Flabba, who was a musician and rapper. In 2016 she was sentenced to 12 years in prison. She was released on parole in May 2022. The department of correctional service said Mangqele is still expected to comply with specific set of conditions and would be subjected to supervision until her sentence expired on 23 May 2028.
