On August 5, 2009, he made his professional debut for Ajax in a 2–1 victory over Orlando Pirates during the 2009 MTN 8 competition quarterfinal at Johannesburg’s Coca-Cola Park. After making significant contributions to the club’s and the nation’s youth teams for several years, he was promoted from the club’s youth academy tiers.
Early in 2014, it was revealed that “Tyson,” as he is more popularly known, has agreed to a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits. Hlatshwayo put a stop to rumours that he was going to the Orlando Pirates by doing this. In June, he became a member of the Johannesburg club.
