They say “love is a beautiful thing” and we are all inspired by successful relationships and marriages. These successful love stories gives us hope that love still exist and reigns. Number 1 is Angela Atlang and Her fiance
The Muvhango actress Angela Atlang got engaged in October 2023 to her boyfriend whose name and identity were never published. She posted pictures of her engagement party on her Instagram, a party and union celebration she titled “You have always been the one”. In reality, it’s not clear either it was just an engagement function or a marriage ceremony with very few people, but from our observations it was an engagement ceremony. Angela became famous after playing the role of Itseng Motsamai in a South African oldest soapie Muvhango. In her home country Botswana, Angela was best known as a model and also an actress. [1]
Number 2 is Kefilwe Mabote and Sandile Phakathi
Socialite and life style influencer Kefilwe Mabote tied a knot in January of 2023 to her husband who is not known to the public yet. On 03 January 2023, Kefilwe published to her 1.4 million Instagram followers that her husband had paid lobola for her. Her Instagram post of that day reads, “This time it is to infinity. I remember God’s teachings vividly, stumbling across Psalm 37:4, which read: ‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Though she kept her husband as a mystery to her followers, others has speculated that the husband is non other than Sandile Phakathi, a businessman and board of director at Royal AM FC. The marriage of this couple was suppose to give hope to those who look forward to get married, but it is rumored that it’s coming to an end before the couple could celebrate their first year anniversary.
Number 3 is Zahara and Mpho Xaba
In March 2023, the award winning singer Zahara was proposed for a marriage by her engineer boyfriend Mpho Xaba. According to IOL and other reports the Loliwe singer said yes to the proposal and most people are looking forward to their marriage. Some tweeps had mixed reactions about her announcing this to the public because they didn’t want disappointments from her. Some said it better happen because Zahara has been through a lot this year and prior. Their relationship which was six months old by the time of proposal was not yet airing on Zahara’s reality show. Though some social media users say negative things, most people wished her a happily ever after.
Number 4 is Dumisani Dlamini and Ophelia Mulela
Another celebrity who shoked us with a beautiful event of marriage is Dumisani Dlamini, an actor and the biological father of the American female rapper Doja Cat. On 02 September 2023, the Home and Treasure actor Dumisani paid lobola to his partner Ophelia Mulela. Dlaminis visited the family of the bride to hand over gifts for umembeso, a traditional ceremony of welcoming the groom to the bride’s family.
The private traditional ceremony was held at Chiawelo, Soweto. When speaking to Sunday World, Dlamini explained the event as follows, “It wasn’t a wedding but Umembeso, where the bride’s family received gifts from the groom’s family as a sign of respect and welcoming the groom.” Dumisani Dlamini was previously engaged to Girlie Nhlengethwa and Nandi Ndlovu.

Number 5 is Bongi Ntuli and Sinenjabulo Zungu
Bongi Ntuli, a soccer player who played as a striker for AmaZulu got married to his club CEO, Sinenjabulo Zungu, in a lavish wedding on 03 September 2023. The couple completed an eventful white wedding at a stunning Midlands venue, having earlier gone through the traditional marriage ceremony in May. The opulent white wedding ceremony was attended by dignitaries, royal families, and business magnates as the guests. Others dubbed it the wedding of the year considering how stunning it was. Unfortunately Bongi Ntuli passed away from the 5th of November after succumbing from an aggressive form of cancer two months after his lavish wedding. [2]
Number 6 is Rouge and Best Friend partner
The Congolese-South African television presenter and rapper Rouge whose real name is Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi got engaged to her best friend and boyfriend in June 2023. Rouge expressed her excitement on social media about the upcoming wedding which is yet to be announced after she got engaged. The South African Music Awards nominee expressed joy now that she will be tying the knot to her best friend, saying God’s timing is perfect. “I am engaged! God’s timing is perfect timing. I will be doing forever with my best friend,” she wrote
Number 7 Dr Sisa Ngebulana and Ayanda Ngebulana
Lawyer, executive chairperson, and sole owner of the multi-billion-rand property company “Billion Group and Rebosis Property Fund”, Dr Sisa Michael Ngebulana married his sweetheart and Pietermaritzburg-born Ayanda Ngebulana in 2019 in a traditional wedding ceremony. In May 2023 they announced that they were preparing for a white wedding which was to take place in Paris, France on 1 June 2023. The wedding indeed happened on the promised date and it was fabulous. He had to hire a private plane to fly his guests, family and friends to this wonderful and special event. The spectacular wedding was attended by several A-listers and politicians.
Number 8 is Baba Mthethwa and Monica
Another heart warming marriage that took place in 2023 is a marriage of Baba Mthethwa and his sweetheart Monica. Most people know Baba Mthethwa as a sesotho sport commentator both on television and radio. He was previously married to Kgomotso Olivia Koosimile before marrying Monica in a traditional ceremony in May of 2023. The couple have been friends for more than 20 years after meeting though business. His wedding ceremony was not classified amongst the most fabulous but it was just breath taking seeing a man of his age taking a leap of faith into a marriage.
Number 9 is Patilizwe “Pat” Mdoda and Noxolo
Last but one on our list is Pat Mdoda, the father to both Anele and Thembisa Mdoda, who got married in September 2023 to young woman by the name of Noxolo. Pat Mdoda is not a celebrity per se, but he is a well known person because of his famous children. Taking to social media, Anele posted a snap of her father and his new wife Noxolo, noting that she had shared unofficial pictures of the couple’s wedding day. “Welcome to the family Noxolo, or should I say Mrs Mdoda. We love you boobsie,” Anele wrote on her account. [3]
Number 10 is Wiseman Mncube and Wife
The Uzalo actor Wiseman Mncube was married to his first wife but she died in 2017 and left him with a daughter. His daughter is Lwandle and she has been growing. Since the death of his first partner, Wiseman never wanted to share information of who he was dating. But recently in June 2023, he came out to the public via Instagram revealing that he has a wife, penning a heartfelt thank-you letter to his family for spoiling him with gifts on his birthday. We do not know either they got married this year or last year but since it came to our attention and people assume it’s a 2023 relationship, we thought we should put him to this list.
