Hugo Broos has been named the new coach of Bafana Bafana after SAFA reconsidered the demands of Benni McCarthy

Hugo Broos from Belgium has been named the new Bafana Bafana Coach by the South African Football Association (safa) on Wednesday.

What impressed SAFA was Broos CV which was filled with past excellent experience. Broos CV showed SAFA that he is an expert in football coaching and can produce wonderful results. The Belgium coach who happened to be the new South African coach won league titles in Belgium with Club Brugge twice and once with Anderlecht‚ and led Cameroon to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations title. The announcement of SA new coach was announced by SABC Radio Park in Auckland on Wednesday.

Hugo Broos is one of the football coaches who was on SAFA’s technical committee list. It is believed that on the list were five coaches, this includes Portuguese ex-Bafana and Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz‚ AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy‚ Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane‚ Kaizer Chiefs boss Gavin Hunt‚ and either Broos or Saudi Arabia coach Herve Renard.

Though many South Africans might have desired to see one of their own coaching their team, it didn’t happen because of certain reasons. Its quite obvious the South African coaches who most people thought were to be assigned to coach Bafana Bafana were Benni McCarthy and Pitso Mosimani.

But they were not offered the opportunity to coach SA soccer boys. According to sources, Pitso denied the offer, and Benni McCarthy denied indirectly. Safa recently spoken out about why Benni, who is currently Amazulu coach, was not chosen as the new coach of Bafana Bafana. Safa said Benni McCarthy made ridiculous demands before accepting the offer.

According to TimesLive Benni demanded that his current Amazulu colleagues Siyabonga Nomvethe and Moeneeb Josephs, to be appointed as his assistant coaches on a full-time basis. Nomvethe and Josephs serve as McCarthy’s assistants at AmaZulu and he wanted them to retain the same roles at the national team level.
