Portia Modise (born 20 June 1983) is a South African athlete and footballer. At the 2006 Women’s African Football Championship, she was named Championship Player. Portia represented South Africa on the Olympic team in London in 2012. When she became the first African player to score 100 international goals, she made history.

Early life of Portia Modise
Modise slammed Ria Ledwaba’s (South African Football Association’s head of the women’s committee) plans to send players to etiquette workshops and supply tighter kit to increase their femininity. She stated, Portia began playing football with neighborhood boys.
Her enthusiasm for the sport grew. She played for the Soweto Rangers Under-10s, the Jomo Cosmos women’s section, and then the Soweto Ladies in 1996. She worked for the Orlando Pirates as an academy coach (2005-2006). [1]
She captained South Africa’s Under-19 national team (Basetsane Basetsane) before moving on to the senior team. Modise was named to South Africa’s squad for the 2012 African Women’s Championship in October 2012. She retired from international football in May 2015, after playing 124 matches and scoring 101 goals for South Africa.
