Gone are the days when Isidingo fans couldn’t wait to come back from work and watch the telenovela at 7pm until it ended in March 2020. When it ended most of its actors disappeared into other endeavors,  but with some sadly passing away. Let’s take a look at 12 Isidingo actors who died recently.

Number 1: Clive Scott, died of unknown sickness

Best known for his role on Isidingo as Ted Dixon is Clive Scott who died on 28 July 2021. He possibly  died of old age since the cause of his death were never known and he was 84 years old. He also acted on The Villagers, Red Water, Wild at Heart and Pride of Africa. Apart from acting Clive was a public speaker and had interest in esoteric matters.

Number 2: Lesego Motsepe, died of HIV related illness

Another well known Isidingo actor who died is Lesego Motsepe. She was known for playing the role of Letti Matabane in Isidingo for 10 years. She died on 14 January 2014 at the age of 39. Her Cause of death were not published but she was HIV positive and possibly died from the virus. She had had stopped taking her medication in 2012 because the minister of health had discouraged ARV medication for alternative medicines.

Number 3: Mahlubi Kraai, cause of death unknown

On 2 May 2021, the South African acting industry saw another loss of Isidingo and Generations actor Mahlubi Kraai. He was 47 years old at the time of death and the causes of his death were never published. He had a television career which spanned from 2000 until his death in 2021.

Number 4: Ashley Callie, died of a car accident

Actress Ashley Callie who was also known for Isidingo as Le Haines died in 2008 as a result of a car accident. According to reports, on 8 February 2008, Ashley was driving her Smart Car going to Pirelli calendar launch when she was involved in a head on collision and sustained head injuries. She died on 15 February while in hospital at Johannesburg General Hospital still treated of her injuries.

Callie’s character, Lee Haines, continued to be portrayed on screen from February to March 2008 since Endemol, the company behind the production, still had unaired footage of the actress; however, the character was eventually written out when she disappeared after learning of her mother’s death.

Number 5: Luzuko Nteleko, died of cancer

Actor and entrepreneur Luzuko Nteleko was one of the young Isidingo actors who died at very young age. He was only 37 years old at the time of death and the news of his death came as a shock. The actor died on 21st of June 2021 after succumbing to brain cancer of which he was diagnosed with in 2019. Luzuko was known for playing the role of Manqoba on Isidingo and he played other roles on other dramas.

Number 6: Adrian Alper, who died of Tuberculosis

Actor and director Adrian Alper died on 14 May this year after succumbing to tuberculosis complications. He was 51 years old at the time of death. Adrian was known for playing the role of Sharky on Isidingo in 1999 and in 2001. After several years acting in different dramas and films he ended up focusing on directing television dramas Isidingo, Backstage, Madam & Eve, Shado’s and Scandal!.

Number 7: Frances Ndlazilwana, died of unknown illness or old age

Veteran actress Frances Ndlazilwana died at the age of 89 years after long illness. She died on 28 February this year at her home surrounded by family, according to source, she was old and frail. On Isidingo, Frances Ndlazilwana was known for playing the role of Nontsikelelo in season 1. She also appeared in numerous productions, including films, TV shows and theatre productions. Her notable performances include that on drama series After 9 and her role in the popular SABC1 drama series Intersexions, where she played the character of Mama Ephi.

Number 8: Patrick Shai,  died of suicide

Another Isidingo actor who shocked the nation of Mzansi when he died was Patrick Shai. He died on 22 January 2022 after committing suicide and his body was discovered by his wife in the garage of his home in Dobsonville the following morning. Shai, was a prolific actor with an extensive filmography under his belt. On Isidingo he played the role of Sizwe in its first season.

Number 9: Lindiwe Ndlovu, she died of Covid-19

Isidingo actress Lindiwe Ndlovu is one of those actresses who left us not prepared of their departure. She died on 11 January 2021 at the age of 44. According to her longtime agent, Lynne Higgins, Lindiwe died after a short illness of Covid-19. She succumbed to this disease because she had underlying issues such as blood pressure causing her to developed trouble in breathing and later died in her sleep. Her career spanned over a decade with debut role of Qondi in Mazinyo Dot Q. She soon became known in homes all over Mzansi when she graced the screen as the Malawian maid Buseje on SABC1’s Ses’Top La.

Number 10: Shona Ferguson, died of Covid-19

Another actor among Isidingo actors who died is Shona Ferguson who died of Covid-19 during the lockdown period. Shona was diagnosed with Covid-19 and on 26 June 2021, he was admitted to Pinehaven Hospital. With his condition getting worse, he was airlifted towards the mid-days of July to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, where he died on 30 July 2021 at the age 47. He was married to Connie Ferguson and they were blessed with two children. On Isidingo: the need, Shona played the role of Tyson.

Number 11: Jamie Bartlett, died of cardiac arrest

Well known Rhythm City actor Jamie Bartlett also starred on Isidingo during his acting career. He was known for playing the role of the shady Mike O’Reilly in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo but most people knew him for his Rhythm City villainous role of a puppet master David Genaro. He died on 23 May, 2022, at the age of 55 after succumbing from cardiac arrest.

Number 12: Don Mlangeni Nawa – died of prostate cancer

Actor Don Nawa Mlangeni died on 16 April 2025 from Prostate cancer. It’s not clear when was he diagnosed with this kind of cancer but unfortunately he succumbed to it. When he got sick, Ministers Panyaza Lusufi together with other ministries help him financially.
