Her relationship with fellow actor Dumisani Mbebe began in 2009, and they have been married since 2016. When she was 21 years old, in 2001, she received a breast cancer diagnosis.After that, she had a mastectomy. But in 2006, the cancer came back.

In 1997, Mbali Maphumulo started working in the entertainment sector. She began by competing in the Shell Road to Fame talent competition. She spent some time in Pretoria working with a theater group.

Later, the actress moved to Gauteng, South Africa’s smallest province. She found employment and put in two weeks there. It takes courage and strength to combat cancer. When Mbali Maphumulo fought cancer twice, she demonstrated both. The actress had a breast cancer diagnosis in 2001.

She claimed that the illness caused her to experience agony when breathing in and out. Even after a doctor’s appointment, her breasts began to itch. Her breast continued to itch, and as a result, pimples and discolouration developed.

She requested a biopsy, which is when the doctor found out she had breast cancer. Mbali Maphumulo’s cancer entered remission, but it came back in 2005.
