Tango Ncetezo was born on December 12, 1984 in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province in South Africa. She was raised by her grandparents, Josephine and Jacob Masegome, as well as her aunts and uncles, after her parents, Pinky and Mbulelo, departed when she was two years old to pursue a degree in psychology in the United States. She was raised together with her younger brother Kgositsile.
Growing up, Tango never knew what she wanted to do as a career. As a soft-spoken and anti-social person she never thought she would one day become an actor. Tango, unlike many of her contemporaries, was uninterested in school plays. Tango adds, “I only did one school play, which was a musical.” She acknowledges that she was never particularly bright in school and didn’t stand out academically. [¹]
How did she change from anti-social to an actor?
After finishing her Matric, Tango had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. So she stayed at home for one year something that is known as a gap year in South Africa. Lucky enough her friend told her about AFDA course which would make her venture into acting and entertainment industry. She took the course and passed but after that she could not get a job in acting since her introvert and anti-social personality was standing in her way.
