When it comes to talent South Africa counts endlessly and certainly Schalaine Bennett is on the list. She is a South African actress and television presenter and well known for hosting Hectic nine nine on SABC2.

Background:

Schalaine Bennett attended Pinelands High School in Cape Town and finished in 2003. She then went on to attend Waterfront Theatre School from 2004-2007 where she studied dance, musical theatre and drama.

First TV role:

The hectic nine nine host first appeared on television screens in 2005 as Cameo. She had this role on SABC1 police drama series called Interrogation Room season two.

Other TV roles:

Bennett acted in other Tv series and Tv shows such as The prisoner “a UK-mini-series”, Mzanzi magic, Gold diggers, and Generations: the legacy. In 2012 a starred on SABC1 mini-series TV show called Goba Msenge. Then from 2016 to 2017 she acted as Marlene Davids on three seasons of the Mzansi Magic drama series Saints and Sinners. Schalaine Bannett also had starring role on Gold diggers (etv telenovela) as a detective Jill Breytenbach also she acted as Zoe on Generations: the legacy.

She is a dancer:

The Gold diggers star is well known for dancing as well. She danced in quiet a number of Bollywood productions such as Welcome, Kal Kisne Dekha and Kal Kisne Dekha. She was featured in some music videos too including Chris Chameleon’s “Shine” and “Thando” by Lloyd Cele and Loyiso Bala.

Appeared on commercial adverts:

She also appeared on commercials such as Papaya Youth Mobile Network, Siyayinqoba, Spier Wine, Old Mutual, Hyundai, Knights Whiskey, Oude Meester and Redds.

Her most ever terrifying experience:

Burglars once wanted to enter Schalaine Bannet’s room while she was asleep. By then she was still in primary school. She screamed and ran away and certainly can’t forget such terrifying moments.

“When I was much younger (primary school), I was in bed and woke up to three guys standing at the window trying to unscrew the burglar bar to get in our house. After watching for a bit I screamed for my dad and they ran away, thank goodness.” She said.

Her wake up ritual:

During an interview with IOL, She said when she wake up, she pray, drink coffee then the unique day begins to unfold.

Schalaine Bennett’s hobbies:

“Reading, watching movies/series, video-calling friends and family. I’m hoping to incorporate exercise once I’ve recovered from an injury.” She said.
