Sandile Mfusi is a South African actor, musician, singer, songwriter, businessman and Hip Hop artist. He is popularly known as Masandi the rapper in the music industry. He is also known for appearing in SABC1 drama series Uzalo playing the role of Kwanda.

Early life of Sandile Mfusi
He was born in a small town of Esikhalen situated in Durban in the province of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. He grew up in the same province but specifically in Umlazi. Growing up in Umlazi, his talents were clearly visible to his community from his early ages.
Mfusi developed interest in singing at young age. By the age of seven he began singing in church as well as in talent shows in his neighborhood.

He obtained his basic education in one of the accredited primary schools in KwaZulu Natal Province (KZN). Then he attended Glenwood High School in Durban KwaZulu Natal where he obtained his matric.
Masandi matriculated in 2006 and went on to Howard College at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) to study Social Sciences. He majored in Media and Marketing Management. His passion for the performing arts grew even stronger as he finished his degree, and he added acting and modeling to his resume.

After completing his tertiary studies, he joined a hip-hop group called Niche Fam where he became the lead singer. Niche Fam achieved success speedily – quickly becoming a household name in KZN as well as generating a lot of buzz throughout the country. In 2011 their hip hop group received the award for Music Group of the Year at the IKUSASA Awards.
In 2013 he took his acting career further and seriously when he auditioned and landed a role in Mzansi Magic drama Isibaya. He played the role of Jojo in the drama. Then he landed another role, lead one, in movie called Sugar Mama which was released in 2014.
In 2019 Mfusi landed another role in a television drama series The River. He also appeared as Kwanda in the SABC1 drama series and the most watched drama in South Africa ‘Uzalo’ in 2022. Again in the same year of 2022, he appeared as Gabhadiya on etv’s risque drama The Black Door.
Solo music career
In the year 2014, he launched his solo music career. After launching his solo career he was signed by Cash Time Records owned by hip-hop singer KO. This happened after Masandi had released his debut single, Bring it Back, which was well-received.
The popular tune, which was played on all of the major radio stations and received a lot of media coverage, caught the attention of famed rapper KO. He was so taken with Masandi that he invited him to the studio, where the two collaborated on the smash tune One Time.

Masandi then signed with the stable and released his first single, Ngane Yabantu, in 2016, which was soon picked up by radio stations across the country, and the debut video was highly welcomed by Channel O, MTV Base, and Trace. [ ¹]
