Who is Matli Mohapeloa the actor

Matli Mohapeloa was born in Queenstown, Eastern Cape on 2 April 1984. He is a 38-year-old South African actor who came to limelight after appearing in etv’s soapie drama Rhythm City as  DJ Ngwazi from 2007 to 2009.

He is an AFDA graduate who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Matli appeared in SABC1 drama series such as Generations: the legacy, played Lesiba Molefe in The Estate and he also played Eric from The Queen.

Early life of Matli Mohapeloa

He was born to Lesotho born parents who raised him in Queenstown in the province of Eastern Cape in South Africa. His parents relocated to Maseru where he had some if not most of his childhood. He grew to love acting and it materialized into his career. Pertaining events of his childhood, there is little known to the public.

Education of Matli Mohapeloa

He attended boys-only high school in Queen’s College (South Africa) as well as New Horizon College in the Free State (province). After obtaining his matric, Matli attended AFDA, The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance. At AFDA, he empowered himself in acting and performing arts which made him a great actor since his career debut.

Matli’s career began in 2005 when he made his debut appearance in a television series Gothia Caper.
He had a guest appearance in the 2005 television series Mtunzini.com. In 2006 he starred in television mini-series “When We Were Black”, which aired on SABC1.

He became a well known actor and household name when he played the role of DJ Ngwazi in etv’s soapie drama Rhythm City from 2007 to 2009. When he left Rhythm City he joined the cast of the SABC1 sitcom Nomzamo for its third season, which premiered in October 2009. On Nomzamo, Matli played the role of Mdu, the troublesome brother of the title character, who moves in with her.

He had a recurring part in the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy in 2017 as Thabiso, a convicted rapist who did time in prison and returned with a grudge against the lawyer who sent him away, Fana Mabaso, Jack Mabaso’s son.

In 2021, he appeared as K4, a celebrity endorsing the spaza shop’s wors product, in an episode of the SABC2 sitcom Ak’siSpaza. On April 29, 2021, the program aired (Season 1, Episode 4). He also played the role of Lesiba Molefe in the SABC3 drama series The Estate. [ ¹]
