Mmusi Aloysias Maimane, a politician and businessman from South Africa, was born on June 6, 1980. He also serves as the party head for Build One South Africa. In addition, Maimane previously served as the Democratic Alliance (DA) party’s leader in opposition from May 2015 to October 23, 2019, and as the leader of the opposition in the South African National Assembly from May 2014 to October 24, 2019.

Maimane was born on June 6, 1980, in Krugersdorp’s Leratong Hospital. His mother, Ethel Maimane, is of Sidloyi clan Xhosa ancestry and grew up in Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape. His father, Simon Maimane, is of Tswana descent from the Bafokeng clan and was born in Soweto. Early Career of Maimane
In 2010, Maimane submitted applications to compete in both the internal DA election for Johannesburg Mayor and the Johannesburg City Council. His mayoral candidacy was launched in March 2011 at the DA Election Manifesto Launch in Soweto’s Walter Sisulu Square. In front of a panel of 30 individuals, including party leader and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille, he defeated rival Vasco da Gama to be chosen as the DA mayoral candidate for Johannesburg.
With 752,304 votes, the DA received 34.6% of the vote in the 2011 local elections in Johannesburg. 90 out of the 260 seats in the Johannesburg City Council were under his leadership. The ANC won the mayoral seat, and Maimane assumed leadership of the Official Opposition as a result. In the Council, Maimane was a member of the Finance Committee and the Governance Committee, the formation of which he was personally responsible. Later in 2011, he was chosen to serve as the DA’s national spokesperson. Later Career
The One South Africa Movement (OSAM), a civic movement, was established by Maimane in 2020. He also said that, unlike his former colleague Mashaba, he would not start a new political party.[86] He was obliged to start the political party Build One South Africa in September 2022 because to the poor pace of electoral reform in South Africa, and he currently leads it. Maimane joined SiSebenza Investment House as a shareholder and business partner in 2022.
