Khuzani vs Big Zulu - song of the year award instead of ijele
Khuzani vs Big Zulu

The KZN Provincial Government twitted that Kwazulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikhalala congratulates Khuzane for winning song of the year of the Ukhozi FMNYE2020 Countdown with 957 950 votes. While Big Zulu received 200 000 votes.

Ukhozi FM is a South African national radio station, owned by the SABC, and has a listenership of 7.7 million people.

Khuzane begged this award for his hit song Umshado Akulon’ijele.

These results got music fans to be surprised because some said they never heard the song of Khuzane. According to many tweeps, Makadzi or Big Zulu were supposed to get the award not Maskandi artist, Khuzane. Most music fans believe there is lot of tribalism involved in South Africa, which is the main cause of such unjust music awards.

But Vusi Khoza who is a big fan of Big Zulu – Imali eningi song was greatly disturbed by the news.

The EFF KZN Provincial Chairperson Vusi Khoza decided that he is not going to keep quiet about this too since he believes that his favorite artist deserved the award. Vusi believes there is some fraudulent activities involved for Khuzane – ijele to win the award.

“This has got Fraud and corruption written all over it. The song of the year is Mali Eningi by Big Zulu.”  Said Vusi Khoza voicing out for Big Zulu. “Watch this song blow internationally this year. Now go and argue with your handlers.” He added.

Even Big Zulu shows how much he is concerned about his fans’ opinion when he reposted Vusi ‘s Post. In the post, Big Zulu posted some sad imogis which shows that he is not happy about the outcomes of the KZN awards. His song Imali Eningi was widely recognized by music fans after Duduzane Zuma made a Duduzane walk challenge. Since then, imali eningi has reached five million views in one month only.

Astonishing outcomes in South African music awards are not new. Last year, the Zimbabwean amapiano artist, Sha Sha won Best New International Act Award instead of Master KG on his hit song Jerusalem. But surprisingly, Master KG was appreciated internationally for a wonderful song.
