Gomora and Black Panther actor Connie Chiume has died, aged 72. Her family shared the news in a short statement posted on her verified Instagram account.
She died at Garden City Hospital on Tuesday, 6 August and her cause of death was not disclosed. Her distraught daughter confirmed the news to News24.
Her death was also confirmed on her official Instagram page. The instagram post read, the Chiume family regret to inform you of the passing of international acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie tshiume 72, passed on at Garden City Hospital today on the 8th of August 2024. The Family asks for privacy during this difficult period. The family will communicate further details.

tshiume was best known for her starring role as Mamokete “Kete” Khusur, an upstanding and moral woman and maternal figure in the fictional community on e-tv soapie Rhythm City. She played the role between 2007 and 2016.
Connie also appeared in shows like Zone 14, Soul City, Mazinyo Dot Q and Gomora. Chiume was highly celebrated for her appearances in the Marvel film Black Panther (2018) and Beyonce’s Black Is King (2020). She leaves behind four adult children.
