Early life of Winnie Mashaba
Dr Winnie Mashaba attended Mashupje High School. But dropped out shortly after passing grade 11 in 1998 to pursue her passion for gospel music. However, her first break occurred shortly after auditioning for Solly Moholo. Moreover, Exodus 20 was her debut album, released shortly after the audition (2000).

Winnie Mashaba’s Accolades as a Musician
Moreover, Winnie Mashaba has received numerous nominations, including a Kora for Best African Spiritual Female in 2005. South African Music Awards (SAMA), South African Gospel Awards, and Metro FM Music Awards are among the other accolades.
Furthermore, was named Best Female Artist at the Crown Gospel Awards in 2010. In 2017, she landed a role as a TV host on Dumisa. Moreover, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Trinity International Bible University (TIBU) in November 2019 for her contributions to music.
Controversy with King Monada
King Monada and Winnie Mashaba were in the spotlight. This was after the media had shared misinformation about them. And the claims were extraordinary. It was claimed that the two were in a polygamous marriege. However, Monada made it clear that there was nothing going on between them. He called out the claims as purely fabricated.
Controversy: Winnie Mashaba’s separation from her husband
However, speaking of love affairs. After 16 years in her marriage with long time lover Mokgogo Makgopa; they separated. The separation was all over the media on the 21st of September 2021. After the divorce, she removed Makgopa from her management team and replaced him. And, the replacement was non other than Makgopa’s nephew. With his agency company, Tswako Music and Projects. Makgopa’s nephew Kgaitjadi was to take over where Makgogo was laid off.
