Vuyiseka Cawe ( born, August 01, 1987) is a 34-year-old South African actress well known for her roles, as Listerina on The Queen and Nokuzola on Imbewu the seed. Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, Cawe is one of the four children of her mother who died in 2016. Four days after her mother’s death, her grandmother who was assisting with provision died from kidney failure. And Cawe was left with the burden of taking care of her three other siblings.

Vuyiseka Cawe career

Vuyiseka Cawe acting career started back home in Port Elizabeth where she was involved in community plays and art projects. Being enthusiastic about acting and a desire to make it in life, Cawe moved to Johannesburg and joined the Duma Ndlovu Actors Academy where she studied performance.

The Imbewu star, Vuyiseka, worked with Themba Interactive Theatre Group and travelled through the country taking industrial theatre to impoverished areas.

Cawe was landed roles on Generations: The Legacy, Muvhango, Rhythm City, Ekasi our Stories, Rockville, The Great Mistake, and The Playhouse Production of The Game by Duma Ndlovu to name a few. All this while working as a model on the side.

Listerina (Cawe’s character on The Queen) became a household name when she plotted revenge against her husband’s mistress on Mzansi Magic telenovela The Queen.

Then in December 2019, Cawe joined Imbewu the seed (an etv drama series) as Nokuzola,  who is Shongololo oils’ lawyer and the wife of Zithulele. Zithulele is the CEO of the company Shongololo oils. She plays a liberal woman who is also spiritual in some sense. Her other current role is on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen. She plays Listerina a house wife. This is one of her biggest roles currently alongside Imbewu.

Growing up and losing her favourite matriarchs

Vuyiseka Cawe was born in Gqeberha, Walmer, Port Elizabeth which is in the Eastern cape province. She was born on the 1st of August 1987. According to a wikipedia entry she attended Victoria Girls High school in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. Cawe lost her mom at a later time in her life, she was 28 at the time. Her mother and grandmother coincidentally died a month or few days apart. This was a huge loss for her, infact when Cawe’s grandmother died she knew that she wanted to be just like her as she admired her a lot.

Taking care of her siblings

After the death of her mother, Cawe had to take on a hard responsibility of taking care of her siblings. According to Cawe, she was her sublings’ only hope. She had to make the sacrifice for her siblings to have a better life. She was doing a lot of small jobs including modeling to support her siblings. This responsibility took 5 years of her life, her siblings were age 12,15 and 18 respectively at the time she took on this burden. She also took a while off the screens to grief.

Vuyiseka Cawe’s controversy relations with Mfundi

It is not known whom Vuyiseka Cawe is currently dating as she doesn’t disclose much about her love life. However, in 2015 she was thought of to have had romantic relations with the veteran producer Mfundi Vundla. Mfundi was accused of showering money over the model and her friend. Moreover, Mfundi was said to have been paying flights for Vuyiseka Cawe and her friend to Hong Kong. However, when confronted about this, he said it was nonsensical and not even close to the truth. “I’ve never been to Hong Kong and I don’t know those girls” he said. When Andiswa her friend was asked she admitted to going to Hong Kong for the Lion King premier but denied knowing the man Mfundi.
