Robert Mpisi is 36 year-old South African actor, musician and voice-over artist. He was born on 20 March 1985 in East London, Eastern Cape Province in South Africa. He was raised both in East London and later in Klerksdorp in North West where he had relocated. Robert knew from the age of 14 that he wanted to be an actor. With the help of his English teacher who recognized his acting aptitude at school during speech, he was persuaded to go for acting. In 2002 when he was 15 years old he was casted in a drama series that was on SABC 1 called Tsha Tsha, “and I knew that this is what I wanted to do,” he said speaking to Drum.

Acting Career of Robert Mpisi
Robert Mpisi started acting at a very young age. He found himself in the acting business almost by accident, when his English teacher realised his in born acting talent during class speeches and persuaded him to take part in a school play. In 2002 when he was 15 years old he was casted on Tsha Tsha which aired on SABC 1. At the age of 17 he made his debut appearance on Madeline En Sy Kinders. After moving to Johannesburg to gain more acting experience, he bumped into Candice Hillebrand and Dorothy Ann Gould who showed him the ropes. He later appeared on City Ses’la, Home Affairs, Good Friday Special, Take Charge and Buckets, a Swedish film about a boy who comes to South Africa to find his roots.
Robert has appeared on the most watched television serials such as Rhythm City, Generations, Isidingo and The Queen just to name a few. He came to prominence after playing Sam in the eleventh season of the SABC1 AIDS drama television series Soul City, in 2011. He played Lindokuhle Mabitsela or London on Gomora. And he appeared on stage plays such as Cellphone, a comedy production and he also played a drug dealer in a play written by Dr. Allan Kolski called The Pump Room. In 2021 he was part of the new cast introduced to Scandal which included Sandile Nodangala, Fana Mokoena, Sihle Ndaba, Melusi Mbele and Wendy Gumede. He was casted as a charismatic and charming man “Mr ladies man ” Zenzele Khubeka.

Robert is a multilingual person who can speak English, Setswana, Sesotho and IsiXhosa. He is also shy but cannot be easily noticed because of his good acting skills. He currently lives in Roodpoort, Gauteng Province in South Africa.
