Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong is a 32 year-old South African actress and businesswoman born on 23 March 1989. She was born and raised in Bloemfontein, Free State in South Africa. She fell in love with acting at a very young age and started performing on stage plays at the age of 13 years old. Her parents divorced while she was still seven years old so her father left them with their mother to look after her and her sister Rakgadi Koetle. Her mother struggled financially and it was difficult for Mapaseka to grow up without a father. Mapaseka moved to Johannesburg to seek for greener pastures after realizing the difficulties they were facing as a family. ¹

Mapaseka landed her first major role which was a lead role in production film called Second Chances. The film was produced by Andile Ncube. In 2012 she starred in Show Off, which was the Arts Alive Festival. She became a prominent actor after starring as Dintle Nyathi on Scandal! etv. Dintle Nyathi debuted as a broken girl who dropped out of metric and a victim of teenage pregnancy. She was later married to Mangi Nyathi but later got divorced. Now Mapaseka’s role of Dintle has grown to a CEO of NFH after working in most humble jobs including being a waitress at Q’s Launch. The Scandal star Mapaseka is also a businesswoman and has always wanted to become one. In 2017 she and her husband bought a coffee shop franchise called Gorge Grab n Go Café in Sandton Gautrain station. The franchise sells fresh, free range of healthy sandwiches, smoothies, fresh juice and coffee. She also runs a Girls sanitary drive in Bloemfontein, donating pads to girls in need. Mapaseka also has her own blog, where she writes about her experiences as a mother. She also hosts events focusing on all things motherhood.

Mapaseka is married to Nelson Nyokong and the couple was blessed with a daughter Nema. She enjoys being a mother and wife but in 2018 she had a rough patch as she would find less time to spend with her husband. Apart from acting and business, she has a funny yet motivational column where she posts videos on her Instagram page on Friday’s, with her friend Tsakani Mdluli, called Mqoqo (chat) Fridays. She is a funny person and she is a best friend to her little sister Rakgadi.
Pertaining their friendship and sisterhood Rakgadi says, “We share everything and we know everything about each other. Pasi is forever laughing and tends to laugh in serious situations too. Wherever she is, there’s good energy. Mapaseka is also a neat freak. She is forever tidying up her house.” She adds o saying sister is a prayer worrier and a very loving person, “She is also a prayer warrior, and it is one of her biggest strengths, amongst many. To grow spiritually, she enjoys reading spiritual books. I would say her weakness is that when she loves, she loves way too much, she gives love to undeserving people.” ⁵

In 2015 Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong collected the Best Supporting Actress on Scandal alongside Andile Sithole. This was on the same day Masasa Mbangeni collected Outstanding Actress Award for Thembeka Shezi. Mapaseka was also on the list of Forbes under 30. The list focused on three sectors which are: business, technology and creativity. According to Forbes, the list was their “authentic and most definitive list of Africa’s most promising young change-makers.” ⁶
