Leera Mthethwa, born on December 07, 1990 (age – 30), is a South African actress well known for playing Mrs Jackie Hlongwane on Mzansi Magic telenovela called Gomora. She is also known for her acting roles on Prince Muzi of Mzansi Magic.

Early life and education of Leera Mthethwa

Leera Mthethwa was born and bred in Pretoria, Gauteng province in 1990. The Gauteng born star grew up desiring to be a performer. She recalls at six asking a tour guide at Kruger national park a microphone and she started singing, “I’ll make love to you!” by Boys II Men, and everybody sang along. Whilst doing grade 1, Leera was asked by her teacher about what she wanted to do when she grew up, hilariously, she said she wanted to become Brenda Fassie.

When she was 13 years old, she attended Pro Arte Alphen Park in Pretoria, where she followed her passion for the arts. At this age she was certain about what she wanted to become so she studied drama. After metric, the actress enrolled at AFDA and completed her B.A degree in Live performance before doing an Honours degree in drama at the University of Pretoria.

Career life of Leera

From 2014, Leera worked tirelessly as an MC and going for acting auditions. She has been part of several productions including Generations: the Legacy, season 12 of Soul City on SABC1, City Ses’La and Mzansi Magic’s Prince Muzi. The television star was nominated for SAFTA awards for Sec’Top La on SABC1. She was also part of advertising campaign and promotion including Baby soft spokesperson in “Love your Bum” and resident promotion Jockey at Carousel Casino.

Leera Mthethwa has recurring role as Mrs Jackie Hlongwane on Mzansi Magic television series, Gomora. Jackie Hlongwane is no-nonsense teacher at Gomora High School that has a close working relationship with Melusi Dlamini. Jackie has been seen to be very intuitive when something seems to be wrong with her students. [1]
