Early life of Lazarous Kambole

Lazarous Kambole was born on 20 January 1994 in Lusaka, Zambia. Growing up, Lazarous believed he would become a successful football player because he scored many goals every time he played but his parents wanted him to focus on his studies. When he was 13 years old he visited his brother Promise and stayed with him in Kitwe, Zambia. Kambole was inspired by his older brother, Promise Kambole, who nurtured his talent. Promised noticed that his younger brother loved football and began to monitor him. He even bought him his first football boots.

His first youth club he played for was Kabundi Young Stars. In 2004, Kambole joined Mindolo Youngsters FC while studying at Mamamonti Basic School. In 2006 he moved with his big brother to Chililabongwe where he joined Malalo Sport Academy in his 10th grade. After completing his Grade 12, Kambole enrolled at Football Association of Zambia, Division One side known as Konkola Mine Police. He played under this division for two years before he was promoted to the Super Division after named the top scorer with 18 goals.

Playing for Konkola Blades and ZESCO

In 2013 he was signed by Konkola Blades. He played for this club until end of 2013 which just one season. In 2014 he was signed by a well-established team, ZESCO. In his first three campaigns at this Copperbelt Province club, he struggled for game time due to stiff competition from experienced strikers Jackson Mwanza and Winston Kalengo. However, in 2017, Serbian coach Zlatko Kromptic gave him the chance to prove himself, and he did not disappoint. ¹

Playing for Kaizer Chiefs

In 2019, Kambole joined Kaizer Chiefs after his great performance under ZESCO United was noticed. The star joined Kaizer Chiefs on July 1st, 2019 by signing a 3 year contract which will end on 30 June 2022. His transfer fee from ZESCO UNITED to Kaizer Chiefs was €178 000 (about R3 Million).

Kambole has been playing for his Zambian National Team since 2018. On 14 January 2018 he made his international debut appearance in a match against Uganda in Morocco at Stade de Marrakech. He has appeared in international matches against Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Namibia. On 23 March 2019, Kambole played in a match against Nambia in his home country at Heros National Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia. The match ended with end score of 4-1, a win for Zambia, in this match Kambole scored the fourth goal in the extra time of the match.
