Lindelani Mkhize who is the co-founder of Joyous celebration has been honoured with an honorary doctorate of Philosophy in Community Development from the University of Zulu Land.

Mhkize is known not only for founding Joyous Celebration but for founding of Lindelani Mkhize Entertainment: a recording label that has helped most of the gospel artists grow.
Joyous Celebration was founded in 1994 under the directions of Mthunzi Namba, Lindelani Mkhize and Jabu Hlongwane. Now one of their founding members has been honoured with Doctorate of Philosophy.
