Theatre career

Tinah’s acting career began in theatres which was a transition from theatre plays she participated in during her acting training. Her theatre credits are long and they include working on productions with directors such as Martin Koboekae, Jerry Mofokeng, Joyce Levinson, Arthur Molepo, Walter Chakela, Gerben Kamper, Selaelo Maredi, Owen de Jager, Danny Moleko and Mcedisi Shabangu.

Tinah Mnumzana was married to her husband in 1992 after dating for quite a number of years. They were blessed with two children in their marriage, Bokang and Nonkululeko. In 1995, three years later after tying a knot, they divorced and went their separate ways.

In 2003, while working on Isidingo, Tinah bought a house in Xavier Reef, south of Johannesburg, for herself and her two kids. But her joy was short-lived as the house was soon repossessed in 2005 after failing to pay the bond. According to her it was a sign of her spiritual calling which she was told of since 1992 by pastors, that if she ignored she was going to lose certain things in life. She didn’t just lose her house but acting contracts started to dry up.

In May 2016, she finally accepted her calling and was ordained as a preacher. Jobs resumed after she was ordained as a preacher, including a role on the American adventure series Black Sails, in which she co-starred with Moshidi and Tony Kgoroge. Mnumzana has also been a rape victim, having been the subject of four sexual incidents since she was a toddler. [ ³]
