We all have a religion and belief system that keeps us going, and so is our celebrities. They believe different things and some of them are members of Zion Christian Church and they are proud of their church. In this post will focus on 15 Mzansi Celebs who are proud ZCC church members.
Number 1. Winnie Mashaba
Gospel artist and singer Winnie Mashaba is a loyal and faithful member of saint Engenas ZCC church. According to the singer, being a proud member of ZCC has to taught her to respect other churches and people. Most of her fans have been questioning if Winnie Mashaba is still an active member of ZCC after collaborating on a song Aremo Obameleng with Benjamin Dube.
They thought she left the ZCC church for bazalwane churches. But it’s not like that, Winnie is still in ZCC and she loves to separate her music brand from her church activities. In her own words she said, “When I’m on stage I’m Winnie Mashaba, I’m not representing a church. I’m just a product of the church.”
Number 2: Mohale Motaung
Reality television star Mohale Motaung is also alleged to be a member of the ZCC church. We do not know where such speculations came from but every rumor has an element of truth. According to Briefly SA website, Motaung is a religious man who likes to start his day with prayer. Unfortunately we can’t say he is a proud member of the ZCC church because he is not open about it.
Number 3: Evodia Mogase
In 2020, Daily Sun confirmed that Evodia Mogase a reality television star is a proud ZCC church member. According to the publication, fans got to know about her religious status after she posted a picture on Instagram of herself wearing ZCC regalia. In the post, the television star claimed she missed church and she was wearing green and brown ZCC uniform.
Her post read as follows, “Kgotsong family it’s Wednesday I miss my church.”
Most of her fans were caught by surprise by the news with some praising her for looking good in the uniform. Evodia came to prominence after starring on her reality television show Madam & Mercy when she pops champagne and living the best life with her daughter.
Number 4: Tshepo Senatle
Skeem Saam actor Tshepo Joseph Senatle is one among the proud celebrity members of the ZCC church. In Skeem Saam, he is known for playing the role of Koloi. The actor who started as a panel beater also goes to Moria in Limpopo to perform his ZCC pilgrimage duties once a year.
Number 5: Solly Moholo
Another popular person who was allegedly a ZCC member is Solly Moholo but it’s not clear if it was so. These speculations of him being a ZCC member resulted from the kind of clothes he wore on his music videos. He wore kakkie jacket and trouser similar to ZCC church uniform but without a badge. So, most people thought he was a ZCC church member. Even Sowetan publication once reported that Solly Moholo was a member of ZCC who later joined Bushiri’s church.
Unfortunately, Solly Moholo was not proud member of ZCC and could not take orders from its leaders. He was even reprimanded for wearing their uniform which he never took serious and possibly the church distanced itself from him. He denied wearing ZCC uniform claiming his music video uniform was different from ZCC uniform. When he passed away in 2024, ZCC church released a formal statement that they didn’t know Solly Moholo as their member.
Number 6: Ronnie Nyakale
In 2022 Squad Magazine reported that Ronnie Nyakale is a proud ZCC member despite of him acting as a thug on Generations the legacy. To our surprise, most people in the comment section were not surprised claiming they knew about it long ago. One loyal member said Ronnie was at Moria in 2013, “Yeah he was there at Moriah in 2013 in September” Am I the only one who got surprised by Ronnie being a ZCC member? Number 7: Makhadzi
Singer Makhadzi came out to the public via a Tiktok video claiming that she is a ZCC member. She is a proud member of the church who even attended a funeral of ZCC members who had died in an accident.
Number 8: Clement Maosa
Skeem Saam actor also opened up about his ZCC membership status on McGee podcast. The star does attend ZCC church and goes to Moriah mountain for his pilgrimage. He inherited ZCC as his religion from his parents who are both members of the church.
Clement is known for playing Zamokuhle Seakamela in the SABC1 soap opera, Skeem Saam. He is also a radio DJ and musician. One thing you will never do is to separate him from his religion because he is a proud member of ZCC.
Number 9: Amanda Manku
Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku has her roots deep into the ZCC church. She is a proud member and loves to sing ZCC songs on social media. When other fans wondered why Amanda Manku sings ZCC songs, other fans came to aid with more information. They claimed they have seen Amanda Manku at one of the ZCC branches and that she is a devout member of the church.
Number 10: Austin Mothapo
Some sources online do claim that Austin Rethabike Mothapo is a ZCC church member. The star who is known for playing the role of Noah, a lying, thief and cheater on Skeem Saam is a loyal member of ZCC. Even though there is no evidence on the internet that Austin is a ZCC member, most bloggers do claim he is one.
Number 11: Seputla Sebogodi
Generations actor Seputla Sebogodi known as Kenneth Mashaba on the drama is a full time devout member of the ZCC church. When he was about to get married in 2017, Sunday World newspaper referred to him as a staunch member of ZCC church. This means he is loyal to the church and attends most its gathering including the Moriah mountain pilgrimage.
In one of the videos which circulated the internet, he was seen dancing Mpoho dance with other ZCC members. The video had went viral as Generations fans got amazed to see the cruel Kenneth Mashaba dancing and singing church songs in real life.
Number 12: Oleseng Shuping
Gospel musician Oleseng Shuping who died four years after sustaining serious injuries in an accident that occurred in 2006 was devout member of ZCC. The late musician was born and raised in the ZCC church by his parents. He continued with his life in the ZCC church even when he became an adult. The singer attended the Moriah pilgrimages every year. And his songs and dances on his music videos reflected that Oleseng was a member of the Zion Christian Church. According to several source Oleseng died as a church member of ZCC which was an honor of his faith.
Number 13: Lerato Kganyago
Radio personality and model Lerato Kganyago is alleged to be a member of the ZCC church. She was was seen attending a ZCC church conference in Moriah. Some people who saw her video in Moriah tried to discourage her from becoming a member of the church but she stood firm. It’s not clear if she is a full time member or part time but she quiet proud of it.
Number 14: Hendrick Pule Ekstein
Another person and celebrity who is a member of ZCC is the soccer star Hendrick Pule Ekstein. The AmaZulu player is a well grounded in his faith as a ZCC member. According to Daily Sun, Ekstein is devout member of the ZCC shrine and was seen often times in Moriah. He is always seen wearing his badge during soccer games and trainings.
Number 15: Junior Khanye
Another soccer star who is also a member of the biggest christian church is Junior Khanye. He is known for playing for Kaizer Chiefs, one of the biggest teams in South Africa. According to Daily Sun, Junior Khanye is a proud member of ZCC just like Pule Ekstein.
