Zukisa Matola is a 43 years old South African actress, dancer and singer born on 14 January 1978. She was born and raised in Mthatha, Eastern Cape in South Africa. Growing up in a household of women in Mthatha, she wanted to become an actress from her early teen ages. Zuki Matola is a multilingual person who speaks English, Xhosa, Zulu, Tswana and South Sotho. She studied Speech and Drama at City Varsity from 1998-1999. In 2009 she was reported to be pregnant with DJ Phumzile Zonke’s child which was their first child. And in 2017 she gave birth to her second child who was a girl.
Acting career of Zukisa Matola
Zukisa started her career in theatres. She worked in children’s theatre, for commercials and in industrial theatres before becoming a well known actor. Zukisa made her big break in 2005 when she played as a series regular, aka Fix, on the SABC1 sitcom Mzee Wa Two Six. Then again in the 2000s she landed a lead role on the AIDS drama series Tsha Tsha. Here she played Nobuntu, an Aids orphan and head of a family of boys. In 2005 she appeared on etv soapie Scandal as Sibongile in the first season of the soapie.
In 2006 she landed another leading role as TV diva Ayanda Ncebe in the SABC1 television series of Tshisa. She also appeared on Generations in 2008 as Bridget, a lady who wanted to kill Khethiwe. Then in 2021 she was casted on Lingashoni as Sarah Nondumo the mother to Donald. Apart from television work she appeared on theatre productions including Look Before You Leap (Big Time), Don’t Think So, As If, Picture This and Little Bear. And on television commercials for clients such as e.tv, Castle Lager, FNB, Esprit, Sunsilk and Discovery Card. ¹
