Early life of Rami Chuene

Rami Chuene was born on 3 July 1975 in Seshego-B, Polokwane in Limpopo Province of South Africa. She grew up in Limpopo Province in the small town of Seshego-B in Polokwane. There she was inspired by television actors, artists and actresses and she developed interest in arts.

“Seeing someone speak my language confidently on TV when I was a kid made me fall in love with it.” It showed me that I could be happy with who I am and that I could give more of myself to become the person I want to be,” she says. [ ¹]

Chuene has been in the industry for many years now. She adapted to do different jobs in the industry as a freelancer rather than to depend on monthly salary. Chuene has build her career as a voice-over artist, transcriber, teacher, coach, MC and live performer. She has appeared in several dramas and films ever since she joined the entertainment industry.

Her career began in 1995 when she landed her first recognized and major role on Backstage. Then in 2000 she played the role of Jolly in a film called Hijack Stories. In 2005 she landed her second recorded role in television serials when she played Thato Nyathi in etv soapie Scandal.

In 2012 she appeared in a United Kingdom original television series Strike Back where she played a Senior Nurse. She also appeared in other South African based drama serials such as The Queen, Isono and Happiness Is a Four – Letter Word. [ ²]

On Isono: The Sin she portrayed Jumima from 2020 to 2021 which starred Ntati Moshesh, Bohang Moeko , Senzo Radebe when naming fewer. Her other role was on Giyani: Land of Blood.

She also appeared on How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding and How to Ruin Christmas: The funeral. Chuene portrayed easy-going, fun Grace, the aunt of Beauty and her troublesome older sister Tumi Sello, played by Busisiwe Lurayi. [ ³]

Rami Chuene is married to her husband who was never named when she announced that she got married again 2021. The marriage was done in private but she announced it on Twitter days afrer it was done.

She was previously married to Tsepo Desando but they divorced in 2013. According to Rami, she doesn’t regret divorcing him because after that separation she gain more time to herself. She put that time into self development and personal health care.

“I just feel like divorce, sometimes, is not about just being married to someone. It’s about a journey to self-discovery. It’s about finding out the kind of person that you want to be. You start working on yourself. You give yourself more time and attention and a bit more credit, you cut yourself some more slack,” she said. [ ⁴]

The Isono actress was blessed with three children, these are Nthateng Chuene, Kefiloe Chuene and Botshelo Chuene.
