Sello Motloung, born on 4 November 1970s, is a South African actor best known for playing Mpumi on etv soapie Backstage for about 18 months. In 2021 he got a role of Elias Nkosi on The Estate after a long search for an acting job with a long acting CV of appearing on Invictus (2009), The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (2008) and tv series such as Rhythm City, Lithapo, The Queen just to name a few.

Sello Motloung was born on 4 November between 1960 and 1975 in South Africa.
The star is a multilingual man who can speak Zulu, SeSotho English, Setswana and Sepedi. He is originally from Meadowlands and currently lives in Johannesburg.

Sello Motloung studied at British American Drama academy and finished in 2002 then he studied at Soyikwa Institute Of African Theatre where graduated with a Diploma in Basic Dramatic Arts.
Full acting career
Sello is a product of theatre which ironed him to become a great actor he is today. He appeared in dozens of theatre productions in the 90s including Street Cleaners (1990), The Awakening (1991), The Good Woman of Sharkville (1996, The Cherry Orchard (1997), Master Harold And The Boys (1998), Cold Stone Jug (2004) and Socks & Toothpaste, in 2006. He played Mpumi in the e.tv soapie Backstage, playing the role for 18 months. Then 2007 he played the role of Kutloano in the controversial SABC1 mini-series After Nine and played the lead role in a one-hour drama broadcast on SABC1 on Christmas Eve 2007, called Second Chance.

After this the star appeared on more television series and films such as Lithapo, Rhythm City, on films like Invictus, Canadian mini-series Human Cargo, in 2004. In 2012 he was the lead role in an episode of the e.tv drama series eKasi: Our Stories.
He was nominated for an M-Net All-Africa Film Award in the category Best Supporting Actor for his role in Chikin Biznis, in 1998.¹ In 2021 Sello started to look for a job n acting and luckily he landed a role on SABC 3 drama as Elias Nkosi on The Estate. Elias is a father in his 50s who is a serious businessman.
