Putla Sehlapelo was born on July 4, 1970. He was born and raised in Mpumalanga under Limpopo province.
Putla grew up in a Christian loving home in Polokwane, Limpopo, with his parents and five siblings. The former Generations actor has great memories of his childhood but his fondest memory has to be when he was able to eat cheese as a youngster. [¹]

Putla attended local schools in Mpumalanga until he matriculated. Afterwards, he enrolled at University of Pretoria to study Drama, this is where he obtained Bachelor’s Degree.

Acting career of Putla Sehlapelo

After numerous auditions, Putla made his debut appearance in 2003 as Spike on Generations. In 2008, he starred on a mini series Death of a Queen as Maloro. This series aired as part of the channel’s “Shakespeare in Mzansi” strand from July to August, 2008.

In 2011, Putla starred as Tiro Lebone on M-Net soap opera The Wild until 2012. On the story Tiro was a BEE millionaire who has everything but the love of his life. From July to August of 2008, Putla played the minor role of Hospital Doctor 1 in the SABC2 mini-series Noah’s Ark.

In 2014 he starred as Steve Kefentse, an attorney married to Dipuo who considers his own belief and dedication to justice his personal strength, in the SABC2 thriller series Thola. He is currently starring on Skeem Saam as Alfred Magongwa.
