Early age of Joe Kazadi

Joseph Kazadi who is professionally known as Joe Kazadi was born on 13 January 1991 in Democratic Republic Of Congo (DRC). When he was 10 years old his mother Esther Mbuyi, moved them from DRC to South Africa where they became refugees. There was war in Congo and his mother didn’t want him to become a child soldier so they fled to South Africa.

Upon arrival in South Africa they stayed in Durban, KwaZulu Natal Province. It wasn’t easy for Joe to adjust to KZN life as he faced discrimination. He realized that the solution to this was for him to learn Zulu and it worked out. When he was in his teenages he had to drop out of school to aid with income at home.

So he started working as a waiter at a restaurant. He also enrolled for a short course for culinary arts course and paid for it with the money he got from his waiter gig.

How did Joe Kazadi consider acting?

While he was a waiter at a restaurant, a customer told him that he should consider acting and modelling since he is good looking. So he took his chances and he was introduced to Ice Model Management then he relocated to Johannesburg.

After moving to Joburg, Kazadi landed few roles which made him a well recognized actor. He also landed roles on television commercials and adverts. He appeared as an extra in many television serials but it took him 10 years to make a big break in television dramas.

His first debut television role was the role of Black Mamba on Inters_exions. Then he landed a second role of playing Nkunzi’s ruthless boss, gangster Phillipe on SABC1’s Uzalo. After that he landed his first biggest role in South African television dramas. His third role was on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen where he played the role of Thabiso. [¹]

In 2021 he joined e.tv drama series and soapie Scandal. Here he landed the role of Mukuna playing alongside James Sithole who portrays Mdala.

In 2010 (fews years after moving to Joburg) he appeared on a film called Strike Back. Then in 2021 he starred on Pusha Pressa Phanda a film directed by Dick d’vLz Reubïn. He played the role of Hubert alongside Clyde Berning, Lindiwe Dim and Tsholofelo Maseko. He also appeared on Slay (Slay Queen) directed by Adze Ugah playing alongside Dawn Thandeka King. [²]

Joe Kazadi is a single father of one, a girl child. His daughter’s names are Omotola (a child worth more than wealth) and Zizipho (gift), her surname Kazadi means The chosen one. The identity of his daughter’s mother is not known as Kazadi conceal her for safety and security reasons. In January 2021 Joe had to clear the air about his relationship status, that he is a single father of one and he is not in a relationship.
