In September 2022, during a 1-0 victory over Chippa United for Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Premier Division, Mailula made his senior debut. On October 14, 2022, he scored his first goals as a senior, including a hat-trick against La Passe FC in the CAF Champions League. On October 25, he scored two goals against Maritzburg United to record his first league goals. Following his rookie season, Mailula was voted the league’s Young Player of the Season.
Mailula joined Major League Soccer team Toronto FC in July 2023. His contract was for the 2026 season with a 2027 season option.
