Jonasi had a difficult childhood. He never met his father and was raised primarily by his grandparents in Chimanimani while his mother worked as a kindergarten teacher in South Africa. Growing up in a rural setting had a strong influence on his comedy style, which often reflects village life, everyday struggles, and African cultural experiences. (2)

He began his early education at Chimanimani Primary School, attending Grade 1 and Grade 2. After his grandfather lost his job, the family moved back to Mutare where Jonasi continued school at Sheni Primary School, eventually completing his Grade 7 examinations. He later attended Chimanimani High School, where he completed his ZIMSEC Ordinary Level examinations in 2010. (3)
