Number 1: Zodwa Wabantu
Media personality and provocative dancer Zodwa Wabantu is one of the celebrities who are open about ukutwala. She own her snake and claimed its not an ordinary snake but a money making snake. Zodwa who has always been a subject of controversy, from her unconventional nightclub performance, to her preference for dating younger men has done it again with yet another shocking revelation.
She is not shy to tell the whole nation that she owns a money vomiting snake. She even posted a video in a now removed Instagram post holding a snake and caption the post as, “Thwala Nawe” which means have your own miracle money making snake.
Number 2: Gogo Maweni
Sangoma celebrity Gogo Maweni whose real name is Lee-Anne Makopo is another proud celebrity who owns snakes and other scary animals. According to IOL report, Maweni loves wild animals and keeps some of them as pets. These include snakes like pythons, owls, tortoises, rabbits just to name a few. The celebrity Sangoma was seen several times posing with snakes and claims they are just pets, but fans
think otherwise. Some fans believe that Maweni gets her healing powers and money from these snakes. Number 3: Shawn Mkhize aka MaMkhize
Reality television star and business mogul Shawn Mkhize best known as MaMkhize is alleged to own a snake as well. Fans witnessed it for the first time in 2020 in one of her reality show’s episodes Kwa MaM’khize. In the show, MaMkhize showed off a giant black snake that was around 8 metres long.
The most widely held belief after the snake video went viral in South Africa was that MaMkhize was employing the snake to increase her money. In response to the rumours, MaMkhize publicly acknowledged that she was an animal lover, particularly of snakes, and that the snake in the video was her scaly pet. So, MaMkhize owns a snake and she admits to own one as a pet but most people believe it’s not a pet but ukutwala snake.
Number 4: Sbahle Mpisane
Another celebrity who has been accused of possessing a snake is fitness bunny Sbahle Mpisane, a daughter to MaMkhize. After Jackie Maphotsa’s allegations that some celebrities use snakes, muti, and witchcraft to increase
their fame and wealth, an old video of a snake that she had uploaded reappeared.
Following Jackie’s assertion, people began going back and speculating that the snake was the family’s secret to prosperity and that it belonged to Mpisane or her mother MaMkhize. In an effort to dispel trolls, Sbahle Mpisane posted on Instagram to identify the snake’s true owner and made it clear that the snake didn’t belong to her.
Number 5: DJ Fresh
Another celebrity who caught the fire when Jackie Maphotsa exposed celebrities who own snakes is DJ Fresh. She didn’t mention names but the DJ somehow posted a picture of himself
holding a python on Instagram after her allegations. This made many people to believe DJ Fresh was teasing Jack for making unsubstantiated claims. So, it means many people don’t believe the DJ actually possesses a snake but he is just comfortable around them. But assuming that ukutwala is a real phenomenon of black magic, maybe the DJ was covering up for owning an ukutwala snake, who knows.
Number 6: Big Zulu
In another shocking voice recording that went viral alleged to be Big Zulu’s voice, he confessed he owns a snake and its bothering him. According to the voice recording, Big Zulu’s snake vomits at least R150 thousand at least every day and in return he feeds the snake three
chickens per day. He claims he took this snake to increase his earnings since he has children to feed. However Big Zulu responded by defending himself claiming the voice recording wasn’t his. In addition the rapper claimed he is afraid of snakes and his protection comes from the lord and his ancestors.
Number 7: Gigi Lamayne
Another Mzansi celebrity that is suspected of owning a snake is Gigi Lamayne, who is thirty years old. The rapper posted a video of herself holding a snake around her neck on Instagram few years ago, seemingly for a photo session for her single “F Everybody.”
Whether the snake is her pet or it was
just a prop for the video shoot was never established, although its presence got fans talking and speculating for days. Some assumed its not a real snake but black magic snake for UkuThwala.
Number 8: DJ Coach Tsekeleke
Music DJ and forex trader DJ Coach Tsekeleke was once accused of owning a snake after becoming a successful trader and DJ. According to him, the accusations were coming from his relatives rather than strangers and it hurts. So, DJ Coach doesn’t relate well with his family or relatives because of these baseless allegations. He claims that he uses no snake but he is a hard worker and has earned his wealth.
Number 9: Kefilwe Mabote
When Jackie Maphotsa accused South African celebrities of owning snakes, Kefilwe Mabote, a social media influencer teased the accusations by claiming to own snakes. She posted pictures of herself on Instagram while in a private jet, and two other videos holding snakes and caption it “Zi right zi -snakes”. She then said in her caption that people will be afraid of soft life and going to snake parks because they think we have ukutwala snakes. So, it’s not clear if she just used teasing to dismiss herself from ukuThwala allegations or not.
Number 10: Tribby wadi Bhozza
The last one on our list is Limpopo upcoming musician Tribby wadi Bhozza. He is not shy that he owns a snake and even confessed in another unnamed podcast that he has a snake. This happened after the Podcaster asked him steps he should take to grow his podcast, and Tribby replied saying his snake has some babies and he can give the Podcaster one to grow his channel. I believe he was joking about it, he was just teasing his fans.
