Early life of Keketso Semoko

She is the youngest of nine children—six brothers and two sisters—and was born on June 10. Her mother is a retired nurse, and when she was 15, her father was killed in an accident. And as a result of her father’s demise, she had o grow up with a single mother. However, her mother did her very best to make sure she was fed and dressed.

After graduating from Lofentse Girls High School in Orlando East, Gauteng, Semoko went on to the University of the Witwatersrand to get a BA Hons Degree in Dramatic Arts and a Certificate in Photography. [1]

She made her stage debut in the stage adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Maishe Maponya. Other plays she has performed in include George Wolfe’s The Colored Museum, a workshop production of The Hottentot Venus. In which she played the tragic Sartjie Baartman, the young Khoi girl. Who was displayed as a freak throughout France, and Sezar. Which was performed at both the Market Theatre in South Africa and the Oxford Playhouse in Britain.

She has had guest appearances in the sitcom Going Up as well as the television shows Justice for All and Young Justice. The movies Dr. Lucille Teasdale, a Canadian/South African co-production, Mr. Bones (2001), A Reasonable Man (1999), Drum (2002), and An African Tale by Jason Xenopoulos are among them. Thereafter, in the 2004 made-for-TV film King Solomon’s Mines, starring Patrick Swayze, she also portrayed Mooma Tuussee.

Three months after the show’s debut, in July 1998, Keketso began playing the lead role in the soap opera Isidingo. For her portrayal as Ma Agnes Matabane, she took up the 2007 SAFTA prize for Best Actress in a TV Soap. [2]
