Early life
Azwi Rambuda (born as Azwimmbavhi Rambuda) was born on the 1st of December 1988 as the Venda princes of Dzimauli Musanda Ha-Rambuda area in Limpopo Province. She was born and bred in Venda, Dzimauli in South Africa. Growing up in the royal house was normal for Azwi even though it wasn’t the usual way because her mother did not allow her and her siblings to play outside their yard. Her mother would rather buy whatever they needed to keep them in the yard. ¹
In high school, Azwi realized that she wouldn’t be following in her mother’s footsteps of being a teacher when she fell in love with acting. Azwi entered a talent competition, and loved the lime light and being popular after that performance. But like an other parents, her parents weren’t pleased with her following acting as they wondered where she would get a job and how.

Azwimmbavhi Azwi Rambuda started to see her acting traits in high school which made her to deviate from her mother’s roots of being a teacher and follow acting. She entered a talent competition and acting workshops and fell in love with the attention she got after, thus she chose to follow acting. Her first breakout role was maine (traditional healer) Mpho Ravele on Muvhango. The character of Mpho which she portrays resembles her real life background of royalty since Mpho is married to the Chief of Thathe, Azwindhini. The major difference is Mpho is a Sangoma while Azwi is a Christian in real life. ²

The Muvhango actress is a mother to two children, a 12 year old and a three year old.
“Motherhood has been the best thing ever. God has gifted me with human beings to teach me about me. You learn all kind of things especially with patience, children teach you about yourself. My little boy likes to jump into the sprinklers and dance and I would get reminded that I have grown and I have forgotten how to play and be free.” Said Azwi.
