He was born to Lesotho born parents who raised him in Queenstown in the province of Eastern Cape in South Africa. His parents relocated to Maseru where he had some if not most of his childhood. He became a well known actor and household name when he played the role of DJ Ngwazi in etv’s soapie drama Rhythm City from 2007 to 2009. When he left Rhythm City he joined the cast of the SABC1 sitcom Nomzamo for its third season, which premiered in October 2009. On Nomzamo, Matli played the role of Mdu, the troublesome brother of the title character, who moves in with her.
In the Mzansi Magic soap opera Zabalaza, he plays Moss Cele, a single, streetwise, greedy, and self-centered businessman who manages a hair salon that his father bought for him.

He had a recurring part in the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy in 2017 as Thabiso, a convicted rapist who did time in prison and returned with a grudge against the lawyer who sent him away, Fana Mabaso, Jack Mabaso’s son.
In 2021, he appeared as K4, a celebrity endorsing the spaza shop’s wors product, in an episode of the SABC2 sitcom Ak’siSpaza. On April 29, 2021, the program aired (Season 1, Episode 4). He also played the role of Lesiba Molefe in the SABC3 drama series The Estate. [ ¹]
